Volunteer at Inspiring HANDS

Inspiring HANDS is operated 100% by volunteers. This provides for more of the proceeds to go directly to the IH Awards program. However, it also increases the number of volunteers needed to continue the success of the program. To join us or to learn more please contact us at or 832-953-5354


Ongoing Local Immediate Needs & Volunteer Opportunities :

Abandoned Animal Rescue

No-kill animal shelter and low-cost spay and neuter clinic in Tomball. Volunteers are needed to perform tasks, such as dog walking, cat care, basic animal grooming, office work, creating fliers, raising funds and yard work as well as washing animal dishes and towels.



AmericanTowns is a virtual “town square,” plugging you in to the information and resources related to your city, town and neighborhood. Whether it’s town issues and community activism or school calendar events and sports schedules, AmericanTowns delivers the info faster and helps you use it better. Each community can also use our easy to use tools to post local events, news and announcements, press releases, take donations, create a web site and more.

Building New Foundations

Building New Foundations is a non-profit committed to building and refurbishing homes for disadvantaged adolescents in the greater Houston area. Camp Bethesda

Camp Bethesda offers volunteer opportunities for their adult homes and day facilities. For more information including how you can help.

Camp Blessing Texas

Hosts week long summer camps for children with physical and intellectual disabilities. Volunteers can perform a variety of roles, but the camps biggest need is “buddy” counselors who work one on one with a camper. The position requires a  a six consecutive-day commitment.


The Giving Gown Foundation

Collects new and like-new formal gowns and accessory donations and provides them FREE of charge to high school girls who would otherwise  be unable to attend their formal events. They also collect less formal dresses that they can include in their annual dress sale held in the fall of each year. Funds raised help to purchase items needed for Boutique Day, when the girls select their dress, held each year. Donations and volunteers are needed for collecting, sorting, alterations, working with the girls as Fairy Godmothers, helping in the café, setup, take down, and more.


Good Shepherd Residential Treatment Center

Offers therapeutic treatment for young males ages 7-17 with clinical behavioral issues or emotional problems. The center needs  donations of school supplies, toiletries and clothing items.


Habitat for Humanity

Is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization that helps construct new affordable homes around the community. Volunteers assist with construction and deconstruction tasks, office work, lunch services and at ReStore, which serves as a resale outlet for quality building materials.


Helping Hands Community Garden

Is a community garden that offers garden beds for individuals or families. For those with physical limitations, the garden offers benefits to those with special needs. Volunteers help maintain the garden beds, facility and food grown at the gardens used to feed those in need. The garden is accepting donations for about 700 bricks to help pave the pathways on site.


Houston Food Bank

The Houston Food Bank is America’s largest food bank in distribution to its network of 600 hunger relief charities in 18 southeast Texas counties. Named top charity in Texas by Charity Navigator for financial performance and accountability, the Houston Food Bank provides 79 million nutritious meals to food pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers and other agencies, feeding 800,000 people each year. Fresh produce, meat and nonperishables are distributed from the warehouse at 535 Portwall, and hot meals are prepared and distributed from Keegan Center, a 15,000 square foot industrial kitchen. Additional community services range from nutrition education to assistance with food stamp applications and hands-on job training. Red Barrels offer a convenient way for grocery shoppers to donate nonperishables for their neighbors in need.

JoyRide Center

Offers a therapeutic horsemanship program designed to allow riders with disabilities to find joy through equine-assisted activities. Several volunteer opportunities are available including volunteers who walk beside clients as they ride, horse handlers and assistance in organizing events and fundraisers.


Kids Meals Houston

Kids Meals is Meals on Wheels for Houston’s hungriest preschoolers. Our mission is to end childhood hunger by delivering free, healthy meals to the doorsteps of Houston’s hungriest preschool-aged children.  Kids’ Meals is a first-responder to children ages five-years-old and under facing debilitating hunger due to extreme poverty. Every weekday, year-round, from 9 a.m. to noon, volunteers prepare thousands of healthy lunches consisting of a sandwich, snack and 100% juice or milk.  Our six vans deliver the meals M-F to children enrolled in our program.  We currently serve six Houston-area routes that target zip codes all located within Beltway 8, where the need is critical. Volunteers ages 8 years and up are needed 365 days of the year.

Meals on Wheels Montgomery County

Works to deliver meals and provide transportation services to elderly residents in the area. Volunteers are needed to help deliver meals, assist with administrative duties, events and participate in the telephone reassurance program.


Montgomery County Youth Services

Provides crisis counseling, shelter programs and prevention services to Montgomery County youth with the goal of strengthening families and keeping children in school. The organization provides individual and family counseling, summer programs, pregnant and parenting teen support and alcohol and substance abuse education. Volunteers are needed for special events including the annual golf tournament in November, Ladies Night Out and Ironman in May as well as clerical and administrative roles. Volunteers are also needed to entertain and cook for children at youth shelters.


The Montgomery Country Women’s Center

Needs volunteers year-round to help in administrative offices in Conroe and The Woodlands, work in the retail shop at the Portofino Shopping Center, provide child care to allow women to attend counseling, provide shelter assistance, answer calls through the hotline or provide personal or legal accompaniment. Volunteers must fill out applications online, and training is required.


Montgomery County Search and Rescue Team

Is based in Magnolia and performs missions in the area with the aid of volunteers. The organization helps find lost persons, assists drowning victims and performs swift water and wilderness rescue missions.


The Montgomery County Food Bank

Distributes more than 5.2 million nutritious meals annually to more than 40,000 low-income children, adults and seniors living in Montgomery County. The food bank is in need of volunteers age 16 and older to inspect, sort and box food, help at special events and donate talents and professional services, such as graphic design, printing or photography.


Northwest Assistance Ministries

Meals on Wheels delivers hot, well-balanced meals to the doors of seniors and other neighbors who are homebound because of disability or illness.

Operation Military Embrace

Sends care packages overseas and provides support for wounded or ill military members and their families for up to 10 years after discharge from active duty. The organization is in need of donations and volunteers to help assemble care packages.


Panther Creek Inspirational Ranch – The Woodlands Texas

Offers a therapeutic horsemanship program designed to allow riders with disabilities to find joy through equine-assisted activities. Volunteers are a vital part of making our programs available to the community; from administrative support, side walking, committee members, to ranch chores, every volunteer plays a valuable part in the mission of Inspiration Ranch. We are always looking for passionate volunteers that are committed to changing the lives of our clients and supporting our operations. Volunteering at Panther Creek Inspiration Ranch makes a difference in the lives of our riders and their families; it also makes a difference in the lives of our volunteers and impacts our community.

Resale with a Purpose

Donates 100 percent of its proceeds by allocating at least $5,000 to a different nonprofit organization in the area each month. A volunteer board of directors and about eight part-time workers run the self-funded organization. Several other volunteers are needed to sort through new and gently used donations ranging from clothes to furniture, which are displayed and sold in the showroom.


REACH Unlimited

Provides programs and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Volunteers are needed in a variety of fields, including classrooms, special events, maintenance, office work and service learning.


Society of Samaritans

Provides resources and aid for those in need in Magnolia. It is run entirely by volunteers who help sort donated items and special events.



Is a therapeutic equestrian center in the Northwest Houston area that aims to improve the quality of life for people with special needs through therapeutic horsemanship as well as education outreach. There are several opportunities for volunteer activities, such as walking beside the clients as they ride to provide physical and veral support or leading the horse during classes.



Helps low income families in the Tomball area by providing short-term assistance. The organization accepts donations for its resale shop and food pantry, and volunteers are needed to help with a variety of tasks.


Village on the Park

Village on the Park is located off Jones Rd. in northwest Houston is a senior living and memory care facility. Since adding the memory care unit, budget cuts were made to the senior living residents. They are looking for entertainment to help lift the spirits of the residents. They can accommodate small groups of 8 or less to facilitate playing games, singing, music sing a longs, instrumental music, hand massages and nails painted for ladies, pet therapy, reading and one on one visits (especially in memory care). There are currently 18 residents in senior living and 5 residents in memory care. Both groups can enjoy the same entertainment. Looking for volunteer groups (Schools, Churches, Scouts) or possibly nominal charge activities (magician, etc). Anyone interested, please contact Julie or Donna at 281-970-7979 to volunteer. Hours for activities between 10:00-12:00 and 1:30-5:00. Pets must be docile and up to date on shots. No special certifications needed.
